* Yes you read or heard that right, Rob will be knee deep in Russian opera over the next eight weeks so I am looking for a few volunteers to guest host the show with me. What is ‘craft’ beer

The term ‘craft beer’ is popping up everywhere these days as many beer drinkers become more discerning in the beers they drink. But the rise of food ‘movements’, such as whole foods and slow foods also come into play as many purchasing decisions are made through subtle political judgements about the size, ownership and the relative naturalness of a brewer. The use of the description ‘craft beer’ connotes much more than other generic terms such as ‘premium’ or ‘boutique’.

Warhammer Online Collection Steins

Taverncraft now has Warhammer Online steins for sale. The steins are designed by Michael Phillippi, the Warhammer Online artist. Individually, the normal “Order of the Griffon” and “The Raven Host” steins for for $99, however both of them together go for $179. One can upgrade to the legendary versions and the steins that will not only include an 18K gold plated lid, but will also be signed by Phillippi. Legendary versions are $159 for one or $299 for both. While costly, I can’t imagine anything more epic at a LAN party than drinking ale out of these things.

Each stein comes with an in-game version that gives experience, renown, and influence bonuses for 120 minutes when equip.

Available to pre-order at Taverncraft now, to be shipped in May.

Happy time magic hour turns 1 in March, and Rob and I will be recording our Anniversary show the evening of Thursday March 4th.

We have matured quite a bit from those first few shows, both technically and pallet wise. If you are looking for a show this week, why don’t you take a moment and go back into the archives. Just hit the Archives link above to be taken to a month by month view of the blog complete with every show, even some test shows that we did way way back.

It would be awesome if we could hear from a few of you guys on our 48th episode. (wow that seems like a lot of shows in one year.)

Congrats and so on are always welcome but we’d love to hear you guys saying hi, tell us what beers you have discovered because of us, let us know what beers you want us to check out in the next year, what are your favorite moments from the show, etc… and so on. Even be critical if you like, just be civil about it, we can take it. ;-)

Should we change beer our rating system?

As we approach the one year anniversary of the podcast and the website here we have an opportunity to change one of the most controversial (at least internally) subjects of the show. The beer rating system.

For the record the current system is:

Rob and I each rate the beer on a 1-5 scale using only whole numbers. Those ratings are averaged together and then rounded up to the next whole number.

The reason for always rounding up is that we are untrained (but not inexperienced) beer tasters, and we want to give the benefit of the doubt to the beer.

So here is your change to suggest a change as we come up on our one year mark.
