#12beers 4 Ommegang Three Philosophers 2010

Loyal readers or listeners of the happy time magic hour podcast will know already that this is one of my all time favorite beers. But for the benefit of you fellow #12beers participants who may not be as familiar with my previous reviews (and we will discuss that transgression later) I will endeavor to wax on poetically about this brew one more time.

Three Philosophers is a big malty Belgian style brew complete with the tell tale signs of Belgian wild yeast such as banana and tropical fuit in the nose. But in addition to that traditional Belgian goodness they all mixed in a touch cherry Kriek. The cherry flavor blends with the malt and accents the fruity yeast flavors bringing the whole thing together extremely well.

It’s not a brew for the faint of heart, at 9.8% ABV it’s a sipping brew, however consistent sipping may actually increase mental acuity and dexterity as proven by friend of the show Jeremy Brooks a few episodes back when he took up a challenge to drink and entire large bottle of this brew and called in with reports and Rubiks cube solve times.

Anyway I ramble on unnecessarily… This is a great brew, welcome in my beer fridge any time of year. 5/5
